12th annual Senior Citizens Day Expo celebrates seniors

OCEANSIDE — The 12th annual Senior Citizens Day Expo was held Oct. 3 at the new El Corazon Senior Center to share community resources, information and honor seniors, said Margery Pierce, neighborhood services director.
Live music played in the senior center courtyard and booths for Civitan, cribbage meetups, senior anglers, senior living communities, health care and other interests of the 60 and older bunch lined the sidewalk around the center.
“It’s all in the attitude,” 83-year-old Naomi Yaney of Oceanside said when she talked about staying youthful.
“I go to senior exercise class three times a week,” Barbara Barry of Oceanside, another active senior, said.
Oceanside has two senior centers, the El Corazon Senior Center and Country Club Senior Center, to help meet seniors’ needs for activity, recreation and education.
Bob Kremer, a decorated Korean War and Vietnam War veteran and active community volunteer, was named this year’s senior of the year during the Senior Citizens Day Expo.
